As an artist I find music coming to me in a very natural manner. I compose music by simply listening to an interesting chord, sometimes silence is the best medium on which I can hum melodies that are formed and influenced by my state of mind and mood, sometimes I am inspired by music from other artists before me.

What I find most disturbing and quite an impossible challenge is writing words. It seems my head is filled with all the emotions of the human heart in the form of music leaving very little space for words. Although it is easy for me to build a melody, it is on the contrary, next to impossible for me to build a poem or a lyric even though my father (http://www.freewebs.com/raygrech/)is best described as a poet, winner of numerous competitions and also a member of The Malta Poets association. I seem to have not inherited his flair for words and poetry creation.

 Ms Stefania DiDonna hailing from Naples, Italy has proved to be a crucial asset for my career as a song writer, singer and musician.

I do not know exactly when Stefania started to give creative and artistic life to her feelings and emotions on paper, but I remember her first pieces. I believe back then she was very much influenced by the music we both share a passion for, which is power / dark / folk metal music.

Here is a piece taken from her early work, called 'Black Frozen tears'

'why i felt so miserable and lost in nothingness ?

all i felt was a deep hideous sorrow and emptiness

i was broken..a frozen heart and  blood which turned to ice,

streaming, heavily within those veins like black lace.

chorus: black tears shed down my cold face

            i was rejecting my soul's plea for faith

            and i heared a dark ode to eternal phrase

           could i return back to heaven' s gate?'

 I found this piece very much to my liking and would have used it for a dark/power song.

 Through these last 3 years her writing has improved, in many ways. Today she finds words coming easily and naturally. She can write a very good piece of lyric in very little time. To my amusement she takes pride to have written some pieces during one of her boring lessons at school, which brings to mind, an interesting piece taken from the lyric entitled 'Freedom Highway

'Started the engine, took the freedom highway

The sun was shining, the breeze in my face

Thinking of what I was going to find

When I reach my destination

 Chorus:

It was only me and my new life

Speeding along freedom highway

Where it was leading me I didn't know

I only knew that I found my way'

 This piece of lyric was used to compose a song with my former band Metrokueen, I have loved this piece from the instant I read it, and plan to use it for my solo work. What I like most is the simplicity and very deep meaning in the words; you can almost feel the emotions and the feel of the implicated message.

Although I love her English written work, I believe she excels when she writes in Italian. Here is an example of such work taken from two pieces entitled 'Paradiso Nel Cuore Mio'  

'Ho visto tutto cio nell mia anima

e mi ha dato un bennessere immenso

e una terra mai vista dal uomo

una terra dalla brezza d' Oro

il vento gentile soffiava polvere d' Argento

e l arcobaleno era cosi vicino! quasi mi toccava

potevo sentire le ode sereni nell aria

nella mia mente le ho sentite cosi chiare, nel immensita.'
